Street life – Istanbul

We continued exploring Istanbul. For me as a street photographer, the most interesting is certainly street life in combination with urban architecture. Istanbul does not disappoint in this manner, since it is historically and architecturally very rich where life happens on the streets.

Yeni Cami or New mosque near The Galata bridge.

istanbul_3-2

It was time for lunch. Traditional food is always a good choice. :)

istanbul_3-3

Many narrow passages between streets offer an excellent opportunity for interesting portraits.

istanbul_3-4

The interior of the Rustem Pasha mosque.

istanbul_3-6

Pedestrian underpass under The Galata bridge was packed full.

Everything for construction and home.:)

istanbul_3-13

Some buildings are even missing.

istanbul_3-14

Old, very old ...

istanbul_3-15

The Street towards The Galata Tower is an old one, but with character.

istanbul_3-16

Galata Tower which can be also climbed. This way Istanbul can be observed in its full glory. However we waited till the evening since slight rain was not suitable for this kind of photography...

istanbul_3-17

istanbul_3-23

A look through.

istanbul_3-24

The Sent Antuan Kilisesi church or the Church of Sant'Antonio di Padova is the largest church in Istanbul.

istanbul_3-25

In front of the church is an interestingly deformed statue of Jesus on the cross. Observing the statue creates a very strange feeling. The photograph is not a photo manipulation. :)

istanbul_3-26

Because it started to rain, we retreated in the nearby shopping centre with an interesting interior.

istanbul_3-27

Who spots the umbrella seller?

istanbul_3-28

A statue at the Taksim Square.

istanbul_3-29

Then we used a funicular that runs between Taksim-Kabataş. On the photo on the way to the cable car.

istanbul_3-30

We arrived to the Dolmabahçe mosque. A combination of internal illumination and darkness outside created a wonderful contrast.

istanbul_3-31

Dolmabahce clock tower.

istanbul_3-32

Because we had limited time in Istanbul and the weather improved a little, we decided to visit The Galata Tower. Despite the bad weather, the view did not disappoint.

istanbul_3-33

A look at the Haggia Sophia and Blue Mosque.
